Glad to see they are bringing it back and that the idiocy of not having it did not spread far and wide. VA was on track to do something similar but thankfully did not.
No, it wasn’t.
Is that not what VMPI was?
No it wasn't. That has been debunked a dozen times on this forum.
+1 million Facts: > VMPI never proposed eliminating algebra in middle school. > Calculus/IB were always included as a pathway. People with a political agenda have been pushing lies about this forever.
They only didn’t propose it because of the uproar. They 100% would have. It is literally impossible to underestimate the really terrible ideas in current math pedagogy.
+1000. Don’t buy into the person trying to astroturf their true intentions. VMPI sought to eliminate higher math offerings in public school for equity reasons.
This has been disproven countless times. Why continue to lie?
The PP is a fanatical local, who is incorrect and increasingly off topic of what has occurred in San Francisco. Getting back to the facts, here is a good article on the what/who/ why of San Francisco’s recent decision: https://missionlocal.org/2026/03/san-francisco-algebra-middle-school/
This was the original off topic, false comment that has been disproven countless times: “VA was on track to do something similar“ Anyone still pushing this lie in 2026 is either a RWNJ or duped by them.
I watched the YouTube video that VA DOE posted at that time. Eliminating algebra from middle school absolutely what was being proposed. The video was taken down shortly after and the position walked back, but there's no need to gaslight now. I'm a dem and was super upset by the proposal. I still voted dem (and still do), but the governor and state reps absolutely heard from me. It was a terrible proposal.
DP, and I agree with you 100%. The person you replied to has been trying to gaslight people on DCUM for years; even since VMPI (thankfully) failed. She is dishonest to the core. She also, typically resorts to childish insults when anyone points out her lies. Not sure why this forum still tolerates her. It’s highly likely she works in Gatehouses’ DEIA office, or possibly the VA dept of ed, and tried to force VMPI on us.
