There has always been an undercurrent of anti-semitism in conservative circles. Those tiki torch marchers in Charlottesville didn't come out of nowhere. But I too was surprised by the depth of anti-semitism coming from progressives. So many were celebrating 10/7. Progressives were out on the streets cheering Hamas before the bodies were even in the ground. However, there is no doubt that Israel is an awful country today. They killed roughly 85,000 mostly innocent people - women and children - in Gaza and absolutely leveled it. Israel has sent more than 700,000 fanatical ultra-orthodox colonists into the West Bank to steal land and terrorize people. Israel has invaded Lebanon and are taking everything south of the Litani River in another land grab, which has sent another 1 million Lebanese civilians fleeing in terror from the IDF - who are clearly the most unprofessional army in the world with their targeting of civilians. And Israel has instigated a stupid war with Iran, which has had major repercussions for the entire planet. It's not wrong to ask how does this tiny, strategically irrelevant country have so much sway over American foreign policy. Israel is the Jewish state. Most of planet Earth is appalled and disgusted with modern Israel and Netanyahu. Of course there is going to be blowback. Like Muslims faced after 9/11. Is it fair to a kid growing up in the 'burbs? No, obviously. But Israel, the Jewish state, made some choices. So here we are. The line between anti-semitism and protesting Israel becomes blurry.
No one was doing that, but I agree with the rest of the post. Did you just say that to make the rest of the criticism more credible? Strange.
