Not necessarily.
I think the situations are similar because a.) they are all public places and b.) they all operate on a 1st come/1st serve basis.

I think it is rude for people to reserve tables in fast food restaurants, laundromats, libraries, etc.
even if these places are very crowded.

The same goes for seating in swimming pool areas and even movie theaters too.
I even find it annoying when someone stands in a parking spot in a crowded lot to reserve it, my Dad did this a lot growing up.

I have also seen people “reserve” picnic tables at parks and even spots in the sand on the beach!![/quote]
