You are creating landfill waste by overworking your diswasher and replacing it every few years.  Or running it daily or twice because if you wait to have enough dishes to fill it, all your dishes and pans will be covered in caked on dried gunk that won't come off in one load.

Dishwashers and modern detergent are designed to clean dishes that have been scraped and not pre-washed.  Detergents are enzyme based and need something to work on. [/quote]
