The students with the lower scores may attend a school where the school are generally lower. So that student may actually one of the higher scorers in their particular school. AAP is meant to select students whose academic needs would be hard to meet within the general ed setting in their school. If the school has generally higher performing students, then the barrier to entry is typically higher. There are other factors too. We know kids who were in pool but didn’t get in. But it sounded like their test scores were abnormally high compared to their grades, work output, and teacher ratings.[/quote]
