For ED, legacy is at best a tie-breaker factor for kids with exceptional credentials who are already on the bubble. Unless the kid is from a proven major donor family, legacy is not enough to compensate for a weakness, including low test scores. (There are just too many Duke legacy kids who apply every year. Like Princeton etc. Duke could completely fill their class with strong, fully-qualified legacy applicants. But of course they do not.)[/quote]
