I’ve seen that losing up to 2-3 pounds a week is aggressive, but achievable and acceptable especially if the person is overweight/obese. I’m tired of being fat and want to lose weight at this rate. Has anyone succeeded in doing this? How?
In my 20s and early thrities I would eat 1200-1400 calroies and do 30 minutes of jogging or stairmaster 5+ days a week. I would average -2 pounds despite only needing to lose 15 pounds. But it wouldn't last long and led to binging till I got back to or past my set point (112-114). When I got older I would go more slowely - 1600-1800 calories including more fat and proten, jogging 20-30 minutes 3 days a week and weights 2 days a week. I'd lose about -1 pound a week. But it wouldn't last long and led to binging till I got back to my set point (112-114) - note I didn't overshoot my set point often with this approach. What is your set point, the weight you were most of your adult life, esp. pre kids, the weight you revert to if you are busy and not doing so much overeating/dieting/exercising? Is it possible to love yourself at that set point and focus on making your body stronger etc at that set point? It wasn't for me. Now in my 50s I loose .5-.8 pounds a week with 1600 calories (including even MORE proteen) and jogging 20-30 minutes 3 days a week and weights 2 days a week. But even though I can sustain this for months, it doesn't last forever and leads to binging till I blow past my set point (now 114-118). So yea, dieting doesn't work. And I've wasted my life trying to make it work. There's a reason this forun is all injectables now.
