I mean I figured it was soon-yi and not Woody asking for stuff. When an old guy marries a much younger wife and has a second set of kids (which the younger wife wanted, not him) he’s usually not super involved with raising the kids.
Agreed but also: Soon-yi's mothering sounds rough. She has survived a lot of trauma, some of it never acknowledge by her (I consider being groomed by your mom's boyfriend and having a sexual relationship with him as a teen, serious psycho-sexual trauma even if you later marry him and have kids with him -- I'm betting she does not), and she had no maternal role models when she became a mom (totally estranged from Farrow since the early 90s when her relationship with Woody was found out, and she never knew her birth mom). So her kids now deal with generational trauma from their mom's early experiences as an orphan in South Korea, the clearly dysfunctional home she grew up in, her grooming and relationship with Woody, her estrangement from her mom, and the ongoing trauma of having a father who is continually and credibly accused of being a pedophile. And now it all gets dragged up again with the Epstein files and worse, both girls names are being mentioned in the files in embarrassing ways. It's horrific. It's just layer upon layer of trauma and betrayal. As someone who carries my own heavy weight of generational and personal trauma -- this is such a weight to bear.
