What is interesting is that based on what I recall from this part of the book, him hanging out with Epstein while his son was so sick is both horrible and totally consistent with how he describes himself at that time in his book. It was soon after this episode that he went to residential treatment for the first time (voluntarily) as his wife told him they were basically better off with him in the state that he was. Describes his anger issues that stem from being abused as a child and being in a horrible place emotionally. But even later in the chapter after his second round of residential treatment he describes how his wife made him promise to spend at least 1 day a week with his family, and how one time he almost didn't do it but how good it felt when he actually did. As a working mom of one child I can't imagine putting up with this BS, especially with someone who spends so much time in freaking Zone 2.

I am glad Attia has worked on his anger issues, but it is clear there is something deeply damaged about him still. I find it completely implausible that he was unaware that Epstein already had a child prostitution conviction at the time they were friends. I find it more plausible that Attia knew at least some if not the full extend of what was going on and participated in it.[/quote]
