There is an article out crunching the numbers that FCPS has spent on lawyers and lawsuits in the few years that Dr. Reid has been superintendent. The number is astronomical. Over 25 million since she was hired by FCPS. 15 million last year. The law firms we are using are billing close to $2000.00 hour. Most of these lawsuits are avoidable if they just governed as moderates or enforced district residency checks like in the Hayfield cheating scandal. Imagine the teachers we could hire with that money.
You have no clue how many of those lawsuits are "unavoidable". I'd bet quite a few are related to special ed and we know the school system never follows the rules wrt providing students what they need.
I include the most of the special ed lawsuits as "avoidable" lawsuits. If FCPS simply followed special ed law, many of those parents would not need to sue.
