In aerospace engineering honors. Oos, 3.9/4.4 gpa, 1540 sat. Nothing about merit
You might want to dig a little deeper. Purdue admits freshman into first year engineering (FYE). All FYE students regardless of being in honors must apply to their major. A 3.2 GPA guarantee's Aero but only after completing two semesters. Any application to major (T2M in Purdue speak) after that is competitive and likely requires a significantly higher GPA. Please look carefully at requirements to transfer to major at Purdue or any other engineering school as it varies and your kid might not want to risk getting into the major of choice. Purdue is notorious for weed-out classes, difficult grading and a grind culture. My kid loves it, but it's not for everyone.
