So, I currently live in one of those countries.  :)  I’m not sure if the question is more geared towards safety or treatment as an American tourist?  On the first point, we have not had any safety issues.  Are locals wary of Putin and disgusted with the war in Ukraine? Of course.  But there is no feeling of an imminent threat and in this day and age, there is not going to be some surprise attack should Putin go that route.

To the second issue, for months since the election I cringed when I told people I was American. But people are surprisingly not into talking about politics, especially American politics. Actually the only people that brought it up are Canadian expats, lol. I haven’t felt any outward hostility.

As with any big international trips, it pays to have travel insurance just in case.  It’s such a great region to explore![/quote]
