Just a reminder that for several years we have practiced the "48 hour rule" that prohibits negative posts for the first 48 hours after an individual has passed away. Please refrain from negatives posts, even if they are true, until tomorrow.
Okay it's tomorrow so let's recap what got deleted. Bardot was a vile racist, Islamophobe, and homophobe who was fined 6 times by the French government for inciting racial hatred. She abandoned her son and continued to make cruel statements about hating her child for decades. She was a garbage person. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Thank you for posting the truth. That 48 hr ban isn't about respect. It simply gives the story a chance to fall to the back page be replaced by other headlines and the truth to be hidden and buried.
Yes, Jeff needs to rethink this rule, it creates a misleading impression of people and allows for whitewashing of terrible behavior.
The rule is that you're not supposed to post bad things. I think that is fine, but if you post WELL DOCUMENTED FACTS that's not posting "bad things". He completely lacks nuance. Sad but true.
Yes, I lack nuance. Intentionally. I don't have time to research what are facts and what are not. Even if you document claims, I will mostly have to examine the documentation. In this day and age, you can find documentation for almost anything. I can probably find a source right now that says the earth is flat. The purpose of the rule is to allow a period of mourning for those who liked and/or respected the deceased. They can remember the good about a person without having to debate the bad, or worse yet, dispute false allegations.
