What is the Sela animosity due to?
Too much fake hype, too many assumptions of success stated as fact.
Honestly, I think you are just an anti-charter operative. My kid goes to another charter school so I am not vested in Sela. However, I cannot believe the animosity toward anyone rooting for their charter school here. Sure Sela is not open, but the fact that the school is approved shows that there has already been a lot of hard work and thought put into the school. Consequently, it is not unreasonable to think Sela will likely prove to be a good school. It is possible Sela will fail, but the fact that it has already jumped through many hoops successfully gives one hope for its success as a school.
It's a good thing you're not vested in Sela and you're not one of the people Sela is counting on to advance their exposure, because they need people on their side who can see that there is a concrete negative consequence - NOT for being excited about the school, but for being so excited you fudge the details of what level of interest there is or of what decisions have already been made about its future. You obviously don't see that, because you called PP an "anti-charter operative" (which is ludicrous because one factual statement about what's happened on this board does not = being anti-charter, not by a long shot) when what they said is at the basis of the animosity is true. So, ok, you're not vested, that's probably good for Sela. Because they're going to need more people who see that being honest about where the school is and not acting like it opened 3 years ago is really important towards building credibility and support. For ever person who actually posts on these boards, there are many more just reading. Some may see these exchanges the way you do (nothing but un-provoked Sela bashing), but many will see it as we do: over the top exaggerating which is annoying at best, turning away would-be applicants at worst.
+100
