DS (15) is still wearing shorts. He does add a hoodie. I've given up fighting the battle. One day there will be a fire drill at school and maybe that will encourage him to wear pants. He tells me it's too warm in the building to wear pants. Over the years, I've asked him to put a pair of sweats in his backpack just in case---nope, he knows best. I don't fight this battle anymore. I started giving up around 4th or 5th grade.
My, now 45 yo, brother has been like that his entire life. I remember one time when we were teens, he walked to the store during a snowstorm wearing shorts, sweatshirt and slides. He survived DC winters in shorts until 23yo. He lives in the south now, thankfully.
