The way to fix everyone paying for everyone who doesn't have health coverage is to not treat them. The truly indigent are already covered, so we have no worries there (which is why we don't step over people dying in the street like in India and other 3rd world nations). When people choose not to have coverage then get sick and get care on the financial backs of those that do have coverage, there is no personal responsibility. The youth often do this rather than get catastrophic care. That's not wise and the way they learn their lesson is they have to go into debt to pay for their health care if something happens. That happens enough, and you'd find the youth would then learn the importance of catastrophic care or a more comprehensive policy.

It's not a liberal thing, hon.  We the People have decided that it inhumane to let people die, in the presence of medical professionals, due to an inability to pay.  What's more, we can't verify ability to pay before jump starting every heart that has stopped beating.  Do you want the first words out of your doctor's mouth to be, "Before we get started, we have to verify that you are covered.  Can you give us your ID card and we'll be back after we run an eligibility check".

The same logic would lead us to reinstate debtor's prison.  But the Wisdom of the Founding Fathers made it clear that it was unacceptable.

BTW the legislation solidifying this in the law was signed by Ronald Wilson Reagan.  A true liberal if there ever was one![/quote]
