If this is true it's just a stunt. Regardless of what crazy right-wing Repulicans may sincerely believe, good quality reliable workers are not so easily replaced. In our market economy companies looking to hire the best available employees will pay the little bit more which the Affordable Health Care Act may require. They will have better, happier, healthier employees and their businesses will prosper.
This. The Hardees down the street is about to get a bunch of applications. I own a small restaurant, and I start employees at 20% over minimum wage. Throw in a few other bennies, too, things that cost me little but make an impression on employees. My accountant thought there was something wrong with my books when he saw that I finished the year with all but one of the same employees I started it with. My unemployment insurance payments are virtually nil (employer only pays on the first $9000 in wages; once an employee passes that in earnings, no more payments for him/her), my employees call in sick less than half as often as in restaurants where I've worked in the past, and my customers rave about the service. I can't wait to offer health insurance. I'm going to have the best staff in the country.
