The problem is that the tech world, unlike other jobs, pivots very quickly, so your tech skills can become obsolete in a matter of a couple of years. It's high risk but high rewards. The low level programming jobs have mostly left the country to offshore or AI. That ship has sailed a long time ago. I've worked in tech since 1998, and pivoted to PM roles about 8 years ago.
