If you move Wootton to Crown permanently, it would mean less than 500 kids are able to walk to school. The current Wootton building serves a lot more walkers. Why would we want to add more buses around the county? This makes bo sense.
Because it saves about $300M
+1 From a budgetary standpoint, it makes no sense to have Wootton and Crown given the declining enrollment and declining budget. Lots of people have been laid off; prices are going up. Is now the time to be fixing up a HS when the county is seeing declining enrollments? This is like if you had two cars, one needs repairing, but the kids are about to move out of the house and you will be retiring soon so you will be on a fixed income. It would not be worth fixing up the one car when you can live off of one. This is Montgomery County Public School, not just Gaithersburg or Rockville. MCPS needs to think about long term planning for the entire county. And no, I'm not an MCPS schill. I think the regional model is ill conceived and will be a disaster like 2.0 was.
