We also adopted with literally no warning. We needed hardly anything. We needed a car seat, diapers and a change of clothes to leave the hospital, bassinet for sleeping, lots of formula and bottles. I went to target the day after he was born and bought some things but it was amazing how little he needed. I just wanted to say that what you are doing is so nice but I also wanted the chance to pick out my own baby things. I actually wouldn’t have wanted everything purchased by someone else. What would have been nice is a gift certificate for a couple months later, when I was more settled and wanted to set up a cute little nursery for him. As an aside, I just looked up while I was typing to see that “baby,” who is now 6’2” and towers over both of us, lol.
Because this is not their first child, they have almost all the things at home. They just need some things to tide them over during the time between when baby leaves the hospital to go to Grandma's and when baby and mom are cleared to travel home. Dad does not want to leave the hospital to go shopping, because he is concerned about bringing germs back to a baby who is a little more vulnerable. Because none of us have pumped for such a young infant before, I thought I would ask moms who had experience with that.
These parents are morons.
