I would say that if the structure of English instruction is such that teachers don't have the bandwith to pay attention to the above grade-level students (and I don't put this on the teachers, it's admin and the district policy), they should at least let those kids test out of the class and take a study hall they can use for HW for other classes or reading books of their choosing.[/quote]
