A lot of colleges close their dorms for the week of Thanksgiving.  The kids can’t just stay at school and will have to make other arrangements, like going home with a friend or getting a hotel room.  At my college, the Dean tried to find a home for students who couldn’t fly home by asking for volunteers among students within driving distance.  [/quote]

Really? That's terrible. Why the high housing costs if you can't use them. At my school plenty of students stayed to study/work/simply didn't want to deal with travel chaos.

My trimester school when I was in college definitely didn't close. We didn't have money for an extra flight so I never went home for Thanksgiving.[/quote]
