OP, universities count work experience 6 months out from graduation. If kid graduated in May has until end of November.   It takes awhile.  Are there any internships currently he can apply for while also working or looking for work?

You say the university isn't helping-your kid should reach out to professors they worked with who might be able to help with ideas/connections/internship opportunities.  This means your kid will need to have good relationship with one of them.

Alumni-use the alumni network.  Connect with alumni, kid should attend alumni events in area for university and let them know looking and for what exactly.  They need concrete asks or ask for informational interviews, etc.

Don't act panicked in front of your kid.  A good job takes time, but also for others if your kid is a senior in college this year they should be applying/networking for jobs after graduation now.  Don't wait until spring or after.  [/quote]
