I just had my kid put her AP with honors award in the honors section of common AP. That way it showed she did well on the tests, but did not have to disclose individual test scores. After she was admitted to VT, she submitted all scores, including 3’s. She entered VT with over 30 college credits.
Are you trying to make up a story to show you don’t need to submit AP scores? Just get over it. Colleges ask for AP scores and consider them for admissions. General wisdom: if colleges give credit for 3s submit them, but in the area of the intended major only submit 4 and 5s.
Yes, unless applying to the very small number of Ivies that mandate them, I’m saying you don’t have to report individual test courses. Especially if your kid is AP scholar with honors or distinction. My DD got into excellent OOS schools, including UGA, Clemson, Florida, NC State, etc with this approach. Virginia Tech was always her dream school so once she was accepted, it was a done deal. She submitted the test scores after acceptance to attain credit. So, yes, I don’t think you need AP scores for admission. My kid had high stats, I had no intention of having a 3 potentially negatively impact her admission profile.
This is the reason you need to be careful following specific advice on this board. I'd imagine most people wondering about submitting AP scores are applying to a far different set of schools than this. People are happy to give advice based on their own experience. But it's important to consider their logic and incorporate that into your own situation. whether another kid got into Clemson and NC State without test scores is irrelevant-- it's even irrelevant for kids applying to Clemson and NC State because it's impossible to know whether they were admitted because of that strategy or in spite of it.
