I'm the mom and the default parent. I have forgotten jackets, water bottles, snacks, sunscreen, etc in my many years of parenting. It happens. I would not text my husband and alert him to my failure. That was your husband's mistake. The kid is alive and probably having a great time. Some mom packed too much and your kid is now wearing the extra jacket. Relax and give your husband -who is on a weekend camping trip with your kid that he packed for - a break.
I'm a mom and maybe 51% the default parent (we both work). I've forgotten water bottles, equipment, etc. One time my husband had to drive an hour to meet another mom to bring my kids' clothes because I had left the bag with their uniforms in it on the stairs. We all make mistakes. Sounds like your husband was in charge of multiple things for this trip if he is a scout leader, so he dropped the ball on your son's clothes. Also, your son is 9, that's old enough to take some responsibility for packing his stuff.
