New Yorker here. Always started after Labor Day and ended mid/late June. Last day of school was usually June 24-26.

I know very few school districts that start after Labor Day and don’t end mid/late June. States also have different requirements regarding days. Some states require less than 180 days. The MAJORITY of the US starts in August at some point. I do not believe the MAJORITY ends at Memorial Day. Looking at some calendars today from a variety of districts, it looks like ending the 1st or 2nd week of June  was more common. Now, not saying it doesn’t happen, but out of the 15 school calendars I looked at today from a variety of states, only one ended at Memorial Day. [/quote]
