I don’t think the 5 of us could have flown to Caribbean and stayed in a nice resort with two rooms for that price over Xmas week and most places in Europe also would have been tough for that price given 5 tickets and a desire to at least get premium economy for a red eye flight.  
I’m sure I will get a ton of hate for spending that much on disney but that’s what my teens really wanted to do and it was a nice break after Xmas and before school started up again.  None of my kids get longs breaks so taking a 7+ hour flight someplace for a 6 day trip is not appealing.
