Op, I was in this position last month with slightly lower numbers, but same percentage of possible increase with the new offer. I decided that the money was worth it. When I put in my notice and conveyed it was out of necessity and financial growth and nothing to do with unhappiness in my current role, the mom and pop came back and offered me a 50% raise, meaningful equity, higher title, and even more flexibility than I already had (which they know is valuable to me as a working mom). I ended up rescinding my acceptance of the new job and staying.
Thank you all for your insight. OP here. Where my DH is now there is no equity opportunity, no title change, but they can offer him about 25% more. It still does not help the stagnation others have talked about on this thread. And what the "next job" looks like after this one in terms of success. This is a decision we are not taking lightly. He is torn up and truly fearful of making the wrong call. The wrong call could be staying. The wrong call could be going.
