Universities should take care of professional education that produce qualified workforce for all the aforementioned categories. K-12 is about building a strong foundation through rigorous education. Engaging in professional development in certain direction? Sure, nice to have. But it’s up-side-down right now. Fix the fundamental education first when budget is tight. [/quote]

If MCPS wants to pursue that approach, then it should pursue it equitably. Provide the bare minimum in STEM and Humanities. We are currently, as a region and a nation, living through the hellscape that ensues when STEM students are told that they are unique geniuses who do not need to understand context or engage in critical thinking. Maybe we should learn from those mistakes?[/quote]
