Fellow 1980 baby and this rings true for me. Gen X is always so obsessed with being cool and cynical that we fail to see things clearly. In the end, the cynical eye is no more accurate than the nostalgia Boomers wash everything in. We have too little empathy for other people.

As someone born close to the Millennial generation, I know many of them. They have their own issues, everyone does, but something I appreciate about them is their earnestness. They take things to heart. Gen X likes to keep everything at an ironic distance. It's not always for the best, even if it might help us feel more in control.[/quote]
