The news out of Gaza is horrifying. It has made me think about past wars, and how they ended. During WWII, both Japan and Germany surrendered. They surrendered and threw themselves at the mercy of the victor. I imagine when the US withdrew from S. Vietnam, the government we propped up surrendered to N. Vietnam. Why doesn't Hamas do this? wouldn't all this horror end if they would? One might not like to lose, but they have lost. War is like that. It is horrible and the strong win.
Hamas has agreed to multiple peace deal starting back in February 2024. Israel has said no, out right reject multiple peace deals, killed the negotiators, killed hostages, invade other countries, starved civilians, murder women and children, bombing elementary schools, hospitals, etc. Israel wants to kill all the Palestinians because only some right wing Jews are considered people. The IDF has said there are no military objectives left in Gaza for over a year and 1/2. This is a genocide of Israelis choosing. During Oct7 Israel used tanks and artillery on Israeli civilians vs negotiate with under 100 fighters. Israel is evil. Try to stay informed about what is going on in Israel.
I think a peace deal is different than surrender? Surrender is when you admit that your country now belongs to the victor and they can do what they want. You throw yourself at the victor's mercy. I think if Hamas through themselves on the victor's mercy, other nations would put a lot of pressure on Israel to bring in tons of food.
Israel does not recognize them as a state. Completely different from wwii wrt Germany, Japan, etc. so how would their surrender work? Israel does not think that they should live in their “country.’
