Had terrible ratings and will certainly not be the last of these late night shows to be cancelled. The problem is the show just became an I hate Trump program and that turns off more than half of the country. More men watch late night anyway and they are not buying what is being sold. The last skit on the fake Melania was plain mean spirited. No way they would be done to Michele Obama. Colbert used to be funny but he just became bitter and mean. John Carson is never to be replaced. He understood that his role is not politics. These late night guys could learn something. Kimmel will be the next to go. He just goes on and on and on and not funny.
The real fake news up there. The most recent ratings from Nielsen show Colbert as winning his timeslot, with about 2.417 million viewers across 41 new episodes [twitter]https://x.com/KSBY/status/1946101884265099568?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet[/twitter]
winning a time slot of low ratings doesn’t mean a lot and these numbers are not high relative to the cost to produce this show. There were several hundred full time employers for a show that is not any sort of cash cow. They are canceling whole show and not replacing host. Will be much cheaper to add news. Cable shows like Gutfeld had higher ratings and cheaper to produce with small staff and cable does not have the same expectations for adversors. The show also turned into an echo chamber for liberals and veered from mission. At some point someone would probably sue about equal time when a program is dedicated to one voice. Kimmel will be next for sure and he seems to be doubling down which is perplexing. Jimmy Fallen may survive because he does seem to focus on entertainment more than politics. It looks like he is more Johnny Carson. You have to remember these are business and they have to actually generate revenue. Left was spoiled for many years with just dominating everything unchecked. This is a reckoning for sure but most people will be happy to have tv be tv and not politics. Outside of DC no one is interested in politics and this includes people who may vote traditionally Democrat. It just became too much. I know I am fatigued and tired of hearing the world is horrible. People tend to not be horrible and all these politicians are human and whatever.
