[/quote] My mom didn't (lived to 87, 5 children) but she also had her veins stripped in her 40s so maybe that's why. My feet started to swell in my late 50s (1 child), had a chained-to-my-desk sedentary job and at the time a 10 hour shift. Surprising how much your feet can hurt when you just sit (I was essentially a dispatcher at the time). I worked as a CNA in a LTC facility in college. Some old people had swollen feet, some didn't. Didn't always correspond to obesity but excess weight contributes to risk. Queen Elizabeth's ankles were swelling quite a bit in her later years. [/quote]
