I accompanied DH to a work trip in Vegas many years ago where we stayed at the Mandarin Oriental, which is now another hotel. They had a hostess stand by the pool where you had to check in, give them your room number and party number and they’d seat you similar to a restaurant. If you left the pool area, they cleared off the chairs. I don’t know why all resorts don’t operate like this. It ensured there was no seat saving and everyone had lounge chairs for the time they were actually at the pool. There are few things that irk me as much as as spending $$$$$ on a nice resort only to be unable to find any lounge chairs because they’re all taken by 7:00 a.m.
This makes so much sense. It avoids people taking more chairs than people in their family or going to a two hour lunch while leaving their chairs claimed. I guess it’s a bit of an extra staff cost.
It really doesn’t make sense. It seems perfectly reasonable if you’re spending thousands a night to be able to leave your beach bag and belongings at a chair while you grab lunch. The real solution is for the property to have more chairs. Having to worry about leaving your stuff or finding a new chair after lunch shouldn’t be happening at a nice resort.
