Again, on an individual level, there are people who would benefit from such a policy, but society as a whole benefits from order and stability and as many children as possible being raised by two parents. The government has no motivation whatsoever to mandate automatic paternity testing and take on the expense, the bureaucracy, and then deal with more children on the public dole because no paternity has been established for them. There’s nothing stopping men from from having their (presumed) children’s DNA tested. It’s just not going to be mandated.

I’m surprised anyone would be okay with the government or their health insurance company having automatic access to their DNA profile or their child’s. Who knows how they might use it in the future?[/quote]

I’m ok with it.  We did genetic testing on myself and my child for medical issues and no regrets.  The results are not in my regular medical files.  They are kept in another section as I had to have a doctor print it for me for the results.  If you say no, what are you scared of, someone finding out of your affair and affair baby and giving up your cushy lifestyle?[/quote]
