- the vehicle excise tax in Maryland increased from 6% to 6.5%.
-The certificate of title fee is doubling from $100 to $200.
- The cost for vehicle emissions inspections fee has increased from $14 to $30.
- Additionally, residents will also be facing a $5 dollar tire fee on each new tire purchased, which will officially go into effect in January.
-  The cost of registering a vehicle has also gone up.
For passenger cars weighing up to 3,500 pounds, as of July 1, the registration will cost $120.50 for one year, just over $240 for two years.
-There will also be a new 3.5% tax for rental vehicles.
- In addition to those changes, the sales tax on cannabis products will increase from 9% to 12%, taxes on sports betting are increasing from 15% to 20%, and there will now be a 6% tax on many vending machine purchases.
- the 3% tech tax took effect July 1.  And no, this is not just a business to business tax. The tax will be passed on to the consumers.  Isn't that what Dems have been saying about tariffs.. that it will be passed on to consumers.

Listen to your DH. I bailed out two years ago from Kensington to NoVa and saved a ton in taxes plus everything is nicer over here. The roads, parks, neighborhoods. Love it. [/quote]

Just curious, how do car fees compare? I always heard about the Fairfax car tax and it sounded bad.

I get it that you are trying to trash NOVA, but don't you think it says something that you can only afford a 1970s townhouse in NOVA as a trade for your SFH in MoCo. There are lots of diehard MoCo people from Bethesda, Chevy Chase and maybe Potomac and Kensington, but I moved to Arlington 25 years ago from Bethesda and don't regret it at all. I'll never convince my freinds in MD, but they are paying unnecessary taxes to sit in red light to red light in that nanny state. I would never move back to Md. [/quote]
