Quite few do the exact same thing. When people write that they went to the pool, is that a town pool? Club pool? Backyard pool? Also a few people said generic training for sport at night. Is that something you sign up for or school related? My kids have never gone to tradition camps. They go to specialty camps. My daughter is going to summer dance that you have to audition for. This year it’s in LA and then NYC. My youngest goes to a basketball program that’s six weeks. Any spare time on a day like today my daughter would want to sleep over a friend’s and my son will play video games.
Do your kids not go to the pool? Most families in neighborhoods join an outdoor pool for the summer. They are in or near neighborhoods. They are not called “town pools.”
NP and come on, you must know not everyone has access to or even likes hanging out at a pool. My 15 yo will go again today and this is what she did yesterday too. They will be there for a while and get food at the snack bar. It’s very social. It’s a private pool we were on a wait list to even join but technically it’s the neighborhood pool. My other kid never liked the pool and has never gone. He’s 17 and he will sleep half the day, maybe do some of his summer class, maybe not, and will probably meet up with friends later to get something to eat. He’s not working today. I know this isn’t about older kids but I’m giving an example of what kids do that don’t go to pools.
A family that has a child doing ballet year round on a daily basis except Sundays ($$$$$) definitely has access to a pool. They said they went when kids were younger even. So someone is obviously playing dumb.
You are quoting me but maybe not. Our waitlist was 8 years. We got on it right when we bought our house. We know plenty of people with teens who don’t have a pool and their kids can only go if they have friends with a membership and are on a guest pass. Every pool in our area has multi-year wait lists and many memberships transfer with house sales. These are the neighborhood pools.
