It was just approached differently.

There are multiple ways to leverage our global power to effect the change we want. Military, diplomacy, and aid. You may not agree that diplomacy and aid work, but they do. And those are the preferred Democratic party's strategies. You may think military strength is preferable. Sometimes it's the best way. But it comes at huge costs.

The truth is Trump obliterated aid and he sucks at diplomacy. The only thing left was military force.

The hope in this type if diplomacy is that the aid will show we are really, really nice and don’t deserve to be destroyed.

The Koran says differently, just as the Barbary pirates said: you are an infidel so we can enslave or destroy as we please.

What really happens, we keep giving aid and they will keep taking it as a bribe not to start hostilities. Meanwhile, they fund sleeper cells so that eventually, like a 5th column, our destruction will have a chance to succeed.
