What is really worrisome is Israel drafts both women and men and they both have to serve. However, Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) enlistment in the IDF remains a highly contentious issue in Israeli society. The problem is the ultra conservative have a ton of kids like 7-8 and are now a huge percentage of military aged Israelis. And this number is growing and growing.  Neither the young men or women ultra religious serve in the military with a few exceptions.

I don’t understand how the secular Israeli Jews or moderates put up with their kids serving while this huge segment of the population refuses.

American kids -neither men nor women- should NOT go fight for Israel when a huge percentage of their population refuses to serve.
