There just simply aren't enough students at them to support a top level orchestra, especially when half of them were recruited to play sports. Those kids didn't practice the cello or oboe for 1-3 hrs a day throughout childhood, which is what it takes to tackle the great orchestral works of the western tradition. [/quote]
