I still would never send my kids to a school for lacrosse primarily. But I would pick Potomac, SR, or SJC based on coaching alone if forced. SSSAS would be top of the list because KJ is an all time great coach, but who knows how much longer she will coach. I like the Visi coach but I also wonder how long he will be there.
I promise you - going to SR for the coach is a mistake! Great kids, great school, great lacrosse - psycho coach.
I have a different take. The SR coach can be fantastic. For some she will really make an effort on recruiting and goes the extra mile to get kids into the best colleges. If your daughter is talented, a hard worker, and respectful, it could be a great choice. Truth is every ISL coach has pluses and minuses, fans and detractors. How a coach treats their players and a parent take on it is rarely related to lacrosse skill although some posters will swear all the negative posts are made by parents of girls who don’t play. That’s just not true though. Fact is coaches are people too and like some girls but not others, lacrosse skill notwithstanding. It’s how they treat the players they may not particularly like that tells you the most.
Yes, she will help you for a week during recruiting. She will also miss most practices, blame the kids when she doesn't put in any effort, and take things personally when a kid lashes a mistake. If you disagree, explain how she picked someone other than the UNC commit for her MVP at the school athletics banquet.
Someone else was the MVP
