Dewey is for 20 and 30 somethings who are single and looking to mingle. They pile into houses and party like rockstars. The side streets smell like beer and vomit. My kids love driving through Dewey on the way from Bethany (where we stay) to rehoboth (where we go to the boards for rides and games)....we roll the windows down and they enjoy watching the drunks on the sidewalks and in the street as they stumble from bar to bar. It's not for kids of for grown-ups.
You don’t have as many of the group houses anymore as it’s gotten expensive. Many homes have been bought and are no longer renting. They also have some new great restaurants Dewey Post, Woody’s (best crab cakes in the world), Starboard Claw, Starboard Raw, Fifer market, Dewey Beer company, Nalu. For quieter beaches stay at the north or south end of town. Best part is you never have to get in a car. You can take the Jolley Trolley to Rehoboth. Rent a boat or pontoon to get out on the bay. Rent bikes and ride through rehoboth to Gordon’s Pond. They also have a lot of great live music at the restaurants and bars. The key is to avoid the times/shows with the college kids. Ie if everyone is at Jam session go to the Lighthouse or Rudder where they will also have live music w/o the crazy crowds and older clientele.
