It is unbelievable to me, in this day and age, that people believe there is a god in any way involved in our lives. Just totally unfathomable. Not to mention, the god most of these people worship, looked at objectively, is a monster if this is what he is "in charge of" Also, do people really use those types of bible quotes and think they mean only what THEY have interpreted them to mean? Quite a stretch, and goes as evidence for the fact that people indoctrinated into a religion like this have lost the ability to use their prefrontal cortexes.
Unfortunately, there have always been people like this and there probably always will be. There are also good people who believe in God and good people who do not. The bad people use their religion as an excuse to do harm and the good people use their religion to do good. There are good and bad atheists, as well, with Trump as an example of a bad atheist. As the scientist Stephen Weinberg said: “With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil; but for good people to do evil—that takes religion”. https://portalcioranbr.wordpress.com/2025/02/01/dietrich-bonhoeffer-documentary/
