OP, it like you may have postpartum blues. Please get yourself some check. go to your OB/GYN, they know about this. Yes, kids do act out to annoy parents, sometimes on purpose, sometimes not. I understand your dilemma and your DH. My DH is a very "fun' dad, I often refer to him as Disney Dad. I am always the bad cop, sometimes I want to not care so much about the house being perfect, the kids looking perfect, the kids getting along; like in the movies how families always get along. My kids dont always get along, they used to, though - now they are in 2nd and 5th grade. It stresses me out when they argue; sometimes I have to use my asthma inhaler, as a result of their bickering. Sometimes I yell when they bicker which cause me more stress. I am working on letting it go, not sweating the small stuff, but it is hard to do. It really is! I suggest that you decide what one thing you really need your kid to work on and only fight that battle. Case in point, my kids used to hang up their bath towels and robes all the time. Lately, the towels and robes are piled on the bathroom floor. I just close the door so I dont see it. Not a battle worth fighting. If they dont care about their stuff, I am not going to either. I also like all the beds made in the AM, before school, and all the rooms cleaned before bedtime. When they were younger, before beginning KG, they always cleaned their rooms and made their beds. Not so these days. Now I charge $ for making a bed and $ for picking up the bedroom. And I actually follow through. Which is hard to do.
