They don't. FCPS has been clear that the purpose is to detect weapons that could cause "mass casualty" like guns or larger knives. Nevermind that any high schooler could simply walk into their school after hours though various doors for the myraid activities that happen after dismissal and hide a weapon to be used the next day.
