Universities no longer provide an education; only indoctrination.
Universities provide education, not home training. When I was a young adult, I certainly made some errors as a new professional, but no one has to tell me that I can't wear the same dress to the office that I wore to the club on Saturday. No one had to teach me how to show up on time. No one had to teach me how to answer the phone like an adult or to at least appear busy out of respect for my job and my boss. My mother made sure I knew these things before sending me off to college. Why are kids not receiving any life skills education at home anymore?
My kids are just starting out, but I was surprised at the degree that society seems bent on interference with parenting. It's an accumulation of little things. But basically society views kids as sources of revenue. Want your kid to play basketball. Take her out and shoot some hoops? No! Hire a coach. Do these coaches, instructors and teachers reinforce parental involvement well as long as you pay them. Want to throw a birthday party with some friends? Get ready to have your house destroyed, then sued for food poisoning or something, because you didn't have them sign a liability waiver. They all think it's a bounce palace. Then all the school boards are run by people with political agenda, because everyone gets a say in education (not just parents). See the pattern... It's clear that many parents don't fight back against these social forces very much.
