Just wait til these South Africans figure out they can't afford to hire servants in the US. No more state run medical care either.
They're getting free care. They're going to be eligible for benefits, Trump said. The South Africans will now have a pathway to U.S. citizenship and be eligible for government benefits. Another document seen by NPR included detailed guidance for the South Africans arriving. American family members of Afrikaners granted refugee status would be asked to help them. Those who didn't have family in the country would be "placed in a location that has a local organization to provide you with support," it said. "Your case manager will pick you up from the airport and take you to housing that they have arranged for you. This housing may be temporary (like a hotel) while a local organization helps you identify more long-term housing," it said. The South Africans are also informed: "You are expected to support yourself quickly in finding work. Adults are expected to accept entry level employment in fields like warehousing, manufacturing, and customer service. You can work toward higher level employment over time." https://www.npr.org/2025/05/12/nx-s1-5395067/first-group-afrikaner-refugees-arrive
Sounds pretty normal. I had a refugee friend years ago. They didn't have any family and the government provided them assistance with food and housing, and I think the local mosque helped them out with clothing. Wife was a homemaker, and the husband got a blue-collar job pretty quickly. As his English got better and he proved himself he was able to move them to an apartment in a nicer area. The wife got a job after a year or so too. If these guys are farmers and speak English, they should be able pretty quickly to find something. Cashier/stock (especially someplace like Tractor Supply where they could also familiarize themselves with American varieties and methods) bussing tables anywhere, Amazon warehouse. They'll be fine.
They’re not coming to the US to do jobs they think are more appropriate for black SAs.
