It’s still sad to see.  And the only two reasons I can see that our taxpayer dollars go to support this are:
1) $$ in politics (AiPAC)
2) Israel has some intel or military that our politicians think is necessary for our defense.  
3) Israel has intel on politicians they don’t want getting out 
4) we are scared that without us there Israel will just blow up the Palestinians.  [/quote]
It’s mostly #2. We have a lot of working relationships with Israel from R&D to business to intelligence. Burning those bridges to help Gazans doesn’t make much sense from a realpolitik perspective. There just isn’t much upside, and Hamas will still hate us anyway.

Even the Arab governments in the region don’t really want to help. They’ve been burned before, and Hamas is too influenced by Iran.[/quote]
