You have got to pick better examples for these sob stories: "The child in question’s father, Maiker Espinoza-Escalona, is a lieutenant of Tren De Aragua who oversees homicides, drug sales, kidnappings, extortion, sex trafficking and operates a torture house, the agency said. DHS added that, in addition to the father, the child’s mother, Yorely Escarleth Bernal Inciarte, oversees the recruitment of young women for drug smuggling and prostitution." Again, these two were locked up under Biden and Biden let everyone in! Biden even went so far as to fly people into the country from Venezuela and these two were still locked up!
Oh, but I'm sure their intentions were heartfelt and good. OP keeps searching for stories in an attempt to justify illegal immigration and trash the US.
1. They were not illegal. 2. I am not trying to justify illegal immigration 3. I am 100% fine with the US government deporting mother, father, and child together to Venezuela. What I am not okay with: 1. Sending people to a maximum security prison in El Salvador, especially *without due process* 2. Deporting a mother and keeping the baby How am I unreasonable?
You know there’s another thread here where the baby went with the deported mother, and people are angry about it. m Did you post there and say that’s ok?
Actually, I did not post on that thread. Way to change the subject and way to assume one size fits all. There are many different ways to be wrong, and the Trump Administration is experimenting with as many possible to create terror. They are scaring away immigrants who are here. They are scaring away immigrants from coming. They are also ruining our trillion dollar tourism. All of these are appalling. But I am talking about something different: the good of the child. That is the principle promoted by the United Nations and that mattered to us until just a few months ago. We used to care about the good of the child. I am going to blow your mind here: different decisions may be made in different situations for the good of the child. Some possible differences to take into account: If a child is an American citizen; if parent is an American citizen, if parent being deported wishes to have the child removed; if an American citizen parent thinks it is best to keep the child in the US. Why is it so hard to believe that there may be different considerations. The unifying principle is the good of the child. ANd that is why DHS has to make up lies to demonize this couple, because there is no way to justify keeping this child when: *the Venezuelan mother has been deported *the child is also Venezuelan *the mother has begged for the child to be deported with her
The Biden admin was the first to remove the child from her parents because they thought they were so dangerous. You don't trust Biden? With regard to this administration, everyone claims that they want to get rid of any possible immigrants to pump their deportation numbers up. This would have been a very easy deportation if that were their goal since they were all denied asylum. So which is it? Did you ever think that maybe the migrants and their families were the ones lying? They have every motivation to do so.
I have been very open about criticizing Biden. The tattoo-screening policy has been shredded. Absolutely naive, misguided, and awful. However, I DO trust Biden to require due process. I am sure he failed in many ways, but he has not burned the Constituion and spit on the ashes. I don't understand the second question. The followed the legal channels. They went by the book. Go ahead and deny them asylum and send them home. No one on this thread is saying that that would be illegal or profoundly immoral. In fact, the message here is: Please, send them all back to Venezuela. Whatever their reasons for leaving pale in comparison to the nightmare Trump has created. As for the migrants lying, I am sure some are. And I am sure that a small percentage of those sent to CECOT are violent criminals (respected news sources have estimated 10%, a far cry from ALL of THEM). What different does it make in this situation??? This is a moment of Moral Clarity: you deported the Venezuelan mother and she is begging for her Venezuelan child. This is a very simple and clear situation.
What is your evidence that the tattoos were the only evidence of gang membership? The parents were apparently held as soon as they got here. Biden put the child in foster care. If they thought the parents were that dangerous why would they send the child back?
The bar for refusing asylum in the US is low. In contrast, our country sets a much higher bar when it comes to convicting someone of a crime and sentencing them to prison. The onus is not on me to provide any evidence, it is on DHS. I'll answer anyway: *if they had any evidence, they would have published it, instead of slandering the couple with uncorroborated accusations *we have seen the same MO repeatedly when DHS is asked specifically about prisoners who are most apparently innocent (for example, Jerce Reyes Barrios and Andry José Hernández Romero) or generally asked about the very high percentage of LEGAL immigrants with ZERO CRIMINAL RECORD who were sent to a maximum security prison in El Salvador. How do I know that they are lying: Their lips are moving. Now, stop with the disingenuous pretense that you care for the well-being of the child. This is a very clear case. No one is arguing against the deportation. The Venezuelan mother has been deported and is demanding that her Venezuelan child be returned to her. Give the mother her child!
The government proved to a judge that these people are gang members. The judge believes their evidence. You are taking the family members statement as fact. They have an incentive to lie. To be clear, Id prefer that the kid be sent back with her parents. But if the parents have been determined to be sex traffickers, yeah I can see why they wouldn't send them back. I believe the Venezuelan government about as much as you believe ours
