[/quote] Because many people apply to 8-10 T25 schools and then a few safeties, assuming their kid will get into at least several of the T25. Not realizing that if you apply to many in the 30-70 range, your kid can get great merit. My own kid did just that and we were not even searching for merit. It just happened. Had we been looking, we would have had many more merit offers as well [/quote]
